Having a Dedicated Prayer Life

What were some of Jesus’ most impactful prayers? By having a dedicated prayer life you can better follow Jesus Christ.

Prayer example from King David: Psalm 86

What would you say was David’s heart when approaching the Lord?

What things did David include in his prayer?

Prayer in New Testament:

Having a dedicated prayer life is vital to overcoming the flesh. God helps you through the power of His Son and the Holy Spirit.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2

“16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” Acts 1:13-14

“6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

Having a dedicated prayer life is essential to living a healthy, fruitful Christian life. Make the effort to ensure your invitation into God’s wonderful Kingdom.

Establishing an effective prayer life:

  1. Devotion to Prayer. Pray each day before you start your day. Give glory to God, ask for wisdom, and prayer for others.
  2. Keep a List. Keep a list of people, requests, and other items. This helps you keep your commitment to people that ask you to pray. It also allows you patience with others. Pray for them and let God do His work.
  3. Prayer Partner. Choose a solid Christian/Disciple to pray with you once a month. This can be extremely rewarding. Iron sharpens iron.
  4. Prayer Chains. This Bible Study group or even the whole church can be invited to participate in a prayer chain.
